Challenge

I worked alongside Here Now Films in London and Creo to deliver motion graphics and 3D animation for Sony’s World Photography Awards 2026. The event was held at Somerset House in London to a packed audience showcasing the outstanding contribution to photography from all over the world.

Solution

My responsibilities were to develop a wide range of content to be displayed at the venue for the event and content to feature within video edits. This included the production of a logo sting which featured across large video screens on stage. The logo sting was designed in such a way to introduce each word slowly to reveal the hero logo of the event. I produced a short and long version to be used by the event organisers in different ways. From here I created a set of winner reveal graphics, lower thirds, shortlists and category titles. Each of these were initially created as templates to then be edited quickly by Here Now Films’ in-house teams.

Below are a few moments captured from the event.

Art Direction

My creative involvement included the interpretation of the initial art direction set out by the team and to build a 3D representation of the logo and hero visual which will feature throughout the event. This 3D form produced a cinematic foundation for the motion graphics that would follow and support the hero content on show.

As a keen photographer myself I’m fully aware it’s all about the details. So I wanted to capture the macro detail from the logo and zone in on the logo and word mark. The logo sting includes a slow reveal of each word to build tension and drive excitement for the event. I wanted to create a cinematic look and feel that used in camera techniques such as a high depth of field and range to draw focus on characters shown within the words. Other camera techniques involved focus tracking and the vertigo camera effect on the shutter graphical element to the logo. These details emphasise the nature of the awards event itself, all centred upon the camera.

A successful show

The event was such a resounding success and was presented to a packed crowd held at Somerset House, London from 17 April - 4 May 2026. Our client was incredibly positive about our involvement and the creativity and professionalism that we brought to their event, that they invited us mid way during this project to work on their upcoming next show.

My partnership with the teams at Here Now Films and Creo has led to further work within the events and film space which I’m very excited about and look forward to sharing more on this collaboration in the near future.
